Designing a Patient-First Donation Platform for Accessible Healthcare

About this project

This project involved designing a mobile patient application from scratch for a Switzerland-based healthcare initiative. The app enables financially vulnerable patients from African countries to securely submit their medical cases and receive treatment funding through donor support. The focus was on creating a trust-driven, empathetic, and easy-to-use experience for users facing health crises.

Problem

Patients in financial distress often struggle to access healthcare support due to complex verification processes, unclear submission flows, and lack of transparency. Many potential users abandon digital healthcare platforms because they feel overwhelmed, uncertain about data security, or unsure whether their case will receive real help. This directly impacts both patient success and donor trust, limiting the platform’s ability to fulfill its mission.

Solution

I designed a guided, step-by-step patient app that simplifies identity verification, medical case submission, and donation tracking. By breaking complex forms into manageable steps, providing real-time feedback, and clearly communicating case status, the app reduces anxiety and friction. The solution prioritizes clarity, trust, and dignity, enabling patients to submit verified cases confidently and engage transparently with the healthcare donation process.
